Florida Master Naturalist Freshwater Wetlands Course
This course consists of 40 contact hours, which includes about 20 hours of classroom presentations, instructional videos, interpretive speaking practice and completion of group projects; and about 20 hours of field trips. Through classroom, field trip and practical experiences, learn about Florida’s Natural Freshwater Wetland Systems: Marshes, Swamps,
Rivers, Lakes, and Springs.
Students receive a Certificate of Completion, Embroidered Patch, Wetlands lapel pin, and comprehensive two-volume FMNP Freshwater Wetland Systems Student Workbook.

17th Annual Tupelo Festival
For more than a century Wewahitchka area residents have been gathering Tupelo (quite possibly the world's finest honey) in the Apalachicola River basin. Each spring the northern Gulf County community of Wewahitchka holds a Tupelo Festival. Volunteers hand out "sweet on you" stickers and Tupelo samples to festival attendees. The agricultural extension office and 4-H club provide pamphlets and everyone has a delightful down-home time beneath the canopy of oak trees at Lake Alice Park in "Wewa." Arts, crafts, food and entertainment from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm central time.

Carrabelle Big Bend Fishing Tournament Largest non-profit saltwater fishing tournament (700-900 competitors) in Northwest Florida. Father's Day Weekend Thousands in prizes and cash. Adult & youth divisions. Individual and team competition. The Classic may be the fastest growing tournament in Florida, if not the entire Southeast. Since its first year (1989), participation in the Classic has jumped nearly 375 percent. Forgotten Coast of Florida lies along the Panhandle. It is bounded on the
West by Mexico Beach, St. Joe Beach and Port St. Joe. Going East you come to
Simmons Bayou, Cape San Blas, Indian Pass, and The City of Apalachicola on the banks
of the Apalachicola River. Continuing east you come to Eastpoint, St. George Island,
Carrabelle, Lanark Village, St. James Island, St. Teresa Island, and Alligator Point
in Franklin County, FL. As you cross the Ochlockonee River on Highway 98 you enter
Wakulla County, FL and Ochlockonee Bay, Mashes Sands, Panacea, Live Oak Island, Shell Point
and St. Marks. The St. Marks Lighthouse and nature preserve is the easternmost place on the
Forgotten Coast. Each area is different, and all are uncrowded Natural
Wonders.
